Detroit Renewable Power (DRP) is in the process of substantially reducing off site odors coming from its Energy from Waste (EFW) facility through the construction of an RDF Control System. The first phase of the new RDF Control System is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of this year.
This month, neighbors may notice increased construction activity at the plant, including the arrival of additional equipment. A large crane will arrive on site in mid-August and will be used to lift construction-related equipment and materials to the roof of the north end of our facility. After approximately one week, it will be replaced by a slightly smaller crane that will complete the craning work.
Dedicated roof-mounted exhaust air ducts and support frames are currently being installed on the roof of the RDF storage building, the boiler building, and above the inclined RDF conveyor. Once they are installed and operational, the ducts will direct air to the facility’s boilers, reducing site odors.
